Part 1: Strategic Business Training

The objective of this module is to provide participants with the essential tools of business analysis that will help the participants to understand the factors that lead to business success or failure and how to prepare and present a business plan.

This session will be delivered by John Bates, Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship, and Richard Jolly, Adjunct Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour of The London Business School.
Part 2: The International Business of Television
16th, 17th, 18th June 2010
This sector specific training will give the participants a 360° insider’s view of the real business of television covering:
- The International Market Place: Exploiting content and ancillary rights internationally, including overview of the international TV markets, the international home entertainment markets, and effectively exploiting formats.
- Working With the Broadcasters: Overview of the US market place, including working with the broadcasters and lessons from the frontline; working with UK broadcasters including the key issues facing them.
- Working with Talent, Developing, Producing and Packaging Content.
- Understanding the Money and Clever Financing: Innovative programme financing, including subsidies, tax breaks, working with partners, understanding global revenue flows and how to construct the best deals.
- The speakers will include many of the industry’s leading practitioners.
Part 3: What The Future Holds
13th October 2010
This day will be hosted by Olswang and will include sessions delivered by experts on the latest advances in technology for programme production and distribution, engaging your audience in the on-line world, protecting and exploiting rights in the digital environment.
Part 4: Getting a Business Started, Growing It and Selling It
3rd February 2011
This day will be hosted by Grant Thorton. It will include real case studies and workshops with leading industry figures and experts
Additional Masterclasses
Additional optional evening masterclasses will be added during the year on a variety of leadership and business issues. In particular Lee and Thompson will present master classes on the following topics:
Development and underlying rights deals; the negotiation of broadcaster commissioning agreements: understanding and negotiating talent deals – writer, actor, director, presenter and format creator deals; and
negotiating sales agency, distribution and licensing deals.
Other sessions will include:
Positioning yourself for career development by a leading headhunter.
